North East Combined Events, 27th June, Hull

Our four multi-event athletes produced numerous PB performances across a range of disciplines. The only medal of the weekend was awarded to Joey Williams in the U17 men’s octathlon who finished with a points score of 4005 to edge ahead of team mate Ryan King who was 4th with 3936. Both lads battled hard against each other and the other competitors. Joey was consistent across all the events, with a 2nd place perfofrmance in the 100m hurdles and 3rd best results in the 1500, shot, discus and javelin showing great versatility. He picked up PB’s in the throwing events ands the 1500m (4.56.8). Key performances from Ryan were PB’s and 1st places in the long and high jump (6.34m and 1.72) and PB’s in the 400m (53.1), the throws and at the end of the day, in the 1500m (5.07mins).


In the U15 pentathlon competition, Sam Tyrell finished 4th overall with 2603points obtaining a superb four new PB’s in the process. These included a winning jump of 5.71m in the long jump, 12.2 in the 80m hurdles, 10:14 in the shot putt and an impressive 2.21.1 in the 800m. In the girls event, Mia Hodgson was 5th with a PB points score of 2547 but like Sam, also produced some excellent performances and grabbed a couple of PB’s. She won the 75m hurdles in 11.8, jumped a PB of 4.95m in the long jump and threw a new PB of 6.43m in the shot putt.
