Junior Athletics League, Jarrow, 20th June

Once again our Juniors produced a fine set of results with a whole host of wins, and many PB’s across all age-groups and events. The results of those athletes achieving the UKA standards are mentioned. U15 athletes Sam Tyrell and Mia Hodgson led the way with 3 winning performances each. Mia won the 75m hurdles (12.0, grade 1), long jump (4.65m, grade 3) and high jump (1.48m, grade 3) whilst Sam won the 80m hurdles (12.3, grade 2), high jump (1.55m, grade 4) and long jump (5.53m, grade 3). U13 Jane Feeman picked up excellent points with wins and grade 4 performances in the 70m hurdles (13.2) and a clearance of 1.23m in the high jump. In the 100m hurdles, Joey Williams and Ryan King (both U17) took 1st and 2nd with grade 4 times of 15.2 and 15.4 respectively. Joey also ran a graded time of 53.4 in the 400m. In the sprints, Anna Smith won the U15 girls 100 and 200 in 13.5 and 27.5 (both grade 4) whilst Jason Rumney ran a grade 4 14.1 in the U13 boys 100m.


In the endurance races, Chris Peverley obtained a grade 3 in the U15 1500m with 4:33.3 and the following athletes all obtained grade 4 standards: Chloe Liddle (U13 800, 2.41.1); Anna Fawcett (U15 800, 2.28.3); Joe Armstrong (U13 800, 2.30.7); David Harris (U17 1500m, 5.08.5) and Callum Morgan (U17 3000, 9:49.9).

Two further notable field performances came from Katie Savoury with a jump of 3.90m in the U13 long jump and U15 Sophie Hindhaugh with a 8.38m shot putt. Both girls obtained grade 4 standards.
