Claire Simpson and last years winner Angela Hibbs went head to head on this twisting but relatively flat course. Claire sprang into the lead from the gun and held around a twenty metre lead at the end of the first lap. Angela, despite running 46 seconds quicker on the day, could to nothing to hold Claires aggressive running as the latter powered further ahead, eventually coming home in a new course record of 36 mins 25 seconds to break the 2 year old time of Helen Lawrence. Angela with 37 mins 05 secs held off Morpeths Jane Mooney for 2nd place.
