Mary Wilkinson of Bingley broke clear from the gun for a convincing win ,but behind her yet another battle was fought for the pride of leading home the Chester team.
Morag McDonnell powered off in 2nd place chased by Angela Hibbs, Maxine Czarnecka and Tracy Laws.
After around 2 mile Morag held a 50 metre gap with Max and Angela running stride for stride with Tracy in 5th place. The positions remained the same until around the 4 mile mark at which point the oppressive heat began to take its toll on Morag who was passed first by Angela then Max as they continued their private battle. At the line it was Angela 2nd (36.19) Max 3rd (36.33) Morag 4th and Tracy 7th giving the squad a very convincing team victory.
