This event provided a great contest between 3 of Chester's finest as Emma Raven, Angela Hibbs, and fit again Melissa Turner went head to head in windy conditions.
From the gun Angela made her intentions clear opening up a 20 metre gap on Melissa on the first downhill stretch with Emma a few yards further back. Approaching the end of the first lap it was Emma who had assumed control holding a 15 metre lead over Angela who had Melissa in close attention. Heading up the long back straight for the second time Melissa began to close on Angela who was also closing on Emma. Around the lake for the last time the three were close together but shortly after this point Emma began to apply pressure and opened a gap on her team mates reaching the line in 17 mins 14 secs for her first North East title. Angela with 17 mins 22 secs secured 2nd place with Melissa in her first race since February crossing the line in 17 mins 32 secs for a 30 second pb. Tracy Laws just back from holiday and feeling out of sorts finished 8th in 18 mins 33 secs.
