Signals relays

Saturday 21st March
In a very exciting contest the Chester girls had to wait until the final leg to secure yet another successful defence of the North East road relay crown.
Without a number of the established first team squad the club called upon the services of Veteran Jenny Tinkler who despite not having had a competitive outing since November 2008 rose to the challenge in magnificent style.
On leg one Angela Hibbs removed 3 seconds from her course PB but still trailed Karen Johns of North shields Poly by 22 seconds. Next of was Jenny who battled every inch of the course against Poly's Gina Rutherford to come home around 90 seconds behind her much younger opponent. Tracy Laws on leg 3 began to sow doubts in the minds of the Poly supporters as she reduced the deficit to 50 seconds. The final leg was a formality as Maxine Czarnecka celebrated her Scottish call up wiping out the deficit in the first mile to bring the Cestrians home for a 59 second victory
