Angela Hibbs claimed a very impressive victory in the North East's first race of the new year. North East cross country champion Mary Ferrier set the initial pace on the outward climb of the testing course with Angela following. Near the top of the climb Angela sensed that the Gateshead runner was not quickening and took control of the pace and began to pull clear, steadily increasing her lead to come home for a comprehensive victory in 39 mins 46 secs.
