National X-Country Relays

Berry Hill Park Mansfield - 1st November

Chester Ladies gave a really great performance to finish in 5th place for the 3rd time in their history in what is a truly fast and fiercely competitive 3 by 3k event.
Such is the standard that despite all three athletes running course personal bests the Cestrians were still an agonizing 7 seconds short of a bronze medal.
Maxine Czarnecka (10.43) on leg one had a great run removing 15 secs from her pb to come home in 18th place.

Freya Murray( already buzzing from her British selection for the Ekidon Relays ) blasted the field apart on leg 2 with a really brilliant run recording the days fastest time of 9.47 to put the team into 2nd place.

Melissa Turner one of the clubs most improved athletes produced a massive course pb recording 10.51 ,over 1 min quicker than her run of 2006 but even this was not enough to hold off Internationals Julie Doyle (charnwood), Fay Fullerton (Havering) and Northern cross country champion Gemma Miles (Kendal) who only managed to get past Melissa in the later stages of the race..
The Chester B team lost any hope of a prominent finish when first leg runner Tracy Laws took a nasty fall in the wooded section early in the race, Angela Hunter on leg 2 and Jenny Tinkler on 3 worked hard to finish in 45th position.
