North of England 4 stage relays

North of England 4 stage relays - Hartlepool 27th September

Chester Ladies added yet a further chapter to their growing reputation when they successfully defended the 4 stage relay crown for the third year running.Such is the depth of the squad that no athlete has represented the club on all three occasions only Aly Dixon and Maxine Czarnecka have ran more than once.
This years quartet were Melissa Turner, Aly Dixon, Maxine Czarnecka and Claire Simpson. The race was led off by Melissa, who at this moment is producing one stunning performance after another, and this was no exception as she amazed the watching fans with a brilliant 6th place in 12 mins 56 secs giving her the overall 10th fastest of the day. Aly taking over in on second leg wasted no time in virtually finishing the race as a competition moving into the lead at the half way point of her leg and pulling clear of the field with the days second fastest time of 12 mins 26 secs to give the team a 45 seconds lead.
Out on her own Maxine produced a solid peace of running to extend the gap to over 1 mins 30 secs coming home in 13 mins 00 secs for the 11th fastest of the day.
With nothing to chase but the clock Claire with her all action style of running sprang from the changeover as though the ground was on fire but this approach rewarded her with 12 mins 49 secs the days 8th fastest time to bring the team home for a great victory.
This performance means that the Chester girls have now completed a unique treble hat trick of 3 consecutive Northern 4 stage titles,3 consecutive Northern 6 stage titles and 3 consecutive Northern 5k road race team titles.
